One can't really disprove migration from other routes, but evidence that has previously been used to bolster those claims (bone structure with African traits, chickens with putatively Polynesian traits) can now be shown to actually not support those claims at all. That doesn't mean that there wasn't pre-Colonial migration from Africa or Polynesia, just that there isn't any good supporting evidence for it. Some archeologists will continue to search for that supporting evidence, which is an important aspect of the scientific method, but unless/until they find it, modern introductory textbooks will most likely stick to the Beringian migratory route.

Mon, 19 May 2014 15:44:36 +0000 Verified Atheist comment 195512 at http://dagblog.com One of the primary arguments http://dagblog.com/comment/195509#comment-195509
In reply to It's a cool find, but I don't

One of the primary arguments for the other route theories was based simply on the fact that the indigenous people of South America were physically different than their counter-parts in North America. This find proves that the physical differences in bone structures (such as the face) can occur even if both groups used the bridge to get here. Combine that with how close she was to beginning of the period of the crossing, and this leaves the other theories with not much to hang their hat on.

Mon, 19 May 2014 13:13:23 +0000 Elusive Trope comment 195509 at http://dagblog.com It's a cool find, but I don't http://dagblog.com/comment/195505#comment-195505
In reply to Ancient Skeleton in Mexico Shed Light on American Settlement

It's a cool find, but I don't understand how it "bolsters the prevailing theory that the sole route of human migration into North America took place over a Siberia-Alaska land bridge." There was never any doubt that humans migrated from Siberia. The question is whether they migrated from anywhere else.

Mon, 19 May 2014 04:01:06 +0000 Michael Wolraich comment 195505 at http://dagblog.com I also was all interested in http://dagblog.com/comment/195504#comment-195504
In reply to Ancient Skeleton in Mexico Shed Light on American Settlement

I also was all interested in this discovery and the DNA being extracted and linked to modern day indians.

But then, like 14 seconds later, the BIG DINOSAUR was in the news and whatcha gonna do?

Mon, 19 May 2014 00:47:33 +0000 wabby comment 195504 at http://dagblog.com Good link.
