Driving a big truck across is a whole different ball game! Yes, the bridge has escorts on duty all the time and they're often used. Driving on the grates is not fun unless you're a little kid. It jiggles the car and the wheels make noise. They love that.

It was ok as long as you didn't look down through the grate. Actually there was guys at the gate building that could drive a big truck over if the driver was too afraid to do it. It took some down shifting to get up to the top and then you had to worry with air brake pressure on the way down because of the steep grade. I was always too busy trying to keep the truck rolling on the way up and trying to hold it back on the way down to think about being scared. But then afterwards it would hit me for a few miles what I actually just done. I went up there a few times to pick up wood.

Momoe, you were brave. There are several people in our own family who won't drive on the Big Mac. My sister-in-law was so afraid we had to meet her on the other side, in Mackinaw City, and I had to drive her car across. I keep telling them it's only a road. Way up high. In the sky. Ha!

Confession: When they first started calling us "Yoopers" I hated it. But then I went to Da Yoopers Tourist Trap and saw the immediate value in exploiting the hell out of it and I've been doing it ever since.

I have been a Troll and I have been a Yooper. Many of my best friends are Trolls, including you, dear Flower. There's no shame in being a Troll. You're just not quite as cool, is all.
