"Build a bridge to the 21st Century," and "don't stop thinking about tomorrow" are vastly superior as organizing principles as opposed to not doing something stupid. After all, the 21st Century is somewhere -- it's not a bridge to nowhere, which we all know shouldn't be built, nor is it a bridge too far, because we inhabit that century presently.

And if you keep thinking about tomorrow, well, you'll prevent the arming of the ISIS rebels, because, that would happen, like, tomorrow or something. And sometimes you need to stop yourself from doing something smart, so you don't outsmart yourself. So if you understand that, then not doing something stupid either would mean you can't do anything, and then you're stuck, because you can't build bridges to the 21st Century or think about tomorrow.

Screw it, just do whatever Paul Wolfowitz would do. Now there's an organizing principle for a great nation.
