I do not believe that anyone in contact with an asymptomatic person is at risk. But once someone becomes ill, people they've been around are then personally affected, their lives turned upside-down, businesses are closed, etc. Catching the virus is not necessarily the only concern. Is asking someone who has been in close contact with the bodily fluids of an Ebola patient to isolate themselves for three weeks unreasonable? In all likelihood, the person would remain well, but if not, much of the ensuing "spider web" of concern would be minimized.

Of course, the practicalities of isolation are numerous. Groceries can be delivered, but what of the garbage? The need for clean clothes and linens? Not a convenient circumstance.

Fri, 24 Oct 2014 18:24:28 +0000 barefooted comment 200134 at http://dagblog.com The Ebola Number You Haven't http://dagblog.com/comment/200125#comment-200125
In reply to The United States Ebola

The Ebola Number You Haven't Heard: 80% Of U.S. Ebola Patients Have Survived.

And as I understand it, it rises to 100% if you're talking about U.S. citizens.

Edit to add: Yes, Duncan, the only one to die in the US from Ebola so far, was a citizen of Liberia.

Fri, 24 Oct 2014 16:45:09 +0000 Verified Atheist comment 200125 at http://dagblog.com The United States Ebola http://dagblog.com/comment/200124#comment-200124
In reply to Not hard to do, when it

The United States Ebola survivals record this far

http://www.forbes.com/sites/dandiamond/2014/10/21/the-ebola-number-you-h...

Fri, 24 Oct 2014 15:54:49 +0000 rmrd0000 comment 200124 at http://dagblog.com Not hard to do, when it http://dagblog.com/comment/200119#comment-200119
In reply to Thank you for pointing out

Not hard to do, when it appears that those who fail to heed the warnings taking them lightly, ignoring or insulting the messenger, attesting to their own ignorance, and others may.will suffer for it.

Fri, 24 Oct 2014 14:42:38 +0000 Resistance comment 200119 at http://dagblog.com I have problems believing http://dagblog.com/comment/200121#comment-200121
In reply to I am sorry, I did finally

I have problems believing anything that the government tells me.

But the Government has many reasons to withhold information.

How true;
