Missy, I went back through my boxes of papers, searching to find this material because you said you liked the character so much. I had long ago misplaced the diskettes it was written on, so all I had was some printed copies from 20 years ago that were pretty faded that I had thrown in archive boxes and stored away. Thank you for giving me a reason to get them out and put them back onto a format compatible with my current computer system.

Thanks Oxy. When I finally found the script for Act Two, I also came across some notes I had made about what would be the final play detailing Connie's life; The Schoolhouse Diaries, which would talk about his time as a teacher having to deal with civil rights issues in the 1950 and 60's. I hope to eventually get around to writing it.

As for the Way it Might Have Been, I think Connie would look at it as the past tense of the Way it Should Be. Or what is left after the Way it Turned Out has had its way with the Way it Should Be.

Thanks for posting the rest of this work, there is a great deal of life experience here that is very moving. And I love the alternate diary concept.

Our mind channels are so important in maintaining a healthy and balanced life and your work highlights so many pitfalls to avoid, as well as the humorous paths to take.

My negative channel is "what it might have been"---which is akin, or maybe the same thing, as "the way it turned out". In any case, it's the "regret" channel and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Start the day and end the day with "the way it should be"---what great advice. The trick, as you so well reveal, is to keep the balance inside that philosophy.

I am glad your daughter in law explained the oven to you. I wrote this in a comment to you to do that weeks ago, but it always better to get verbal instructions. Also put a pan of hot water in the oven too. It will add some humidity to the air and make it feel warmer. Just incase she didn't add that to it. There is nothing worse then being chilled to the bone all the time. It makes your muscles hurt after awhile and your joints to stiffen up when your our age. I don't know which is worse hunger or cold.

I just am not waxing poetic lately.

But I have to say.

You call her Missy now.

As she asked.

It brightens my day.

I got a call from my son this week.

I cried about being so damned cold in my 550 square foot apartment. I promised to purchase some heater in the summer, I mean the heaters are so much cheaper in the summer.

He agreed and we discussed how important timing is when purchasing stuff.

Oh and my Precious hates me in person but always calls me Pops, my daddy's daddy on the phone or in person.

hahahah

A long moniker, but I love it.

Ten minutes later his wife called to inform me that opening up the oven was similar to a warming unit.

Yeah.

It worked.

This weekend I will see 40F, above!

I awoke yesterday and it was -27f.

But there is hope. Now it is +20f.

And all day it is soooo warm in my abode.

The world has changed.

This is great stuff as always.
