Yes, fortunately my time in one of Tolkien's study circles permitted me some acquaintance with Nordic tales in the original, and was especially struck by the unique cadence and lilt that characterizes so much of the early lore. That and the glaring Middle Earth elf porn. For some reason the little people seem to be always in an agonizing state of rut.

Why? Iceland depends on tourists for their economy. One of the charming things about the country is their Old Norse Mythology. They have special places and museums dedicated to this history. Moving this rock was like moving a national historical site. They fought over this for months until they came to a settlement so they could finish this highway.
