The Republicans arguments are

o 15 years from now the Iranians could do something which they could do right now

o We're giving the Iranians a chance to trade with the rest of the world. That's bad?

o Yeah there are peaceful Iranians but the hard liners are in charge. More or less true but the deal will help the non hard liners.

o The Iranians behaved badly when they imprisoned our embassy. True. And we behaved worse when Kermit Roosevelt managed the coup to remove Mosaddegh.

Yes, very good news and along with his lightening up on Cuba makes two foreign policy moves that will likely stand out in coming years as his most significant. While the Cuba move was years overdue the Iran deal might well have come barely in time.

But like Mike W and Missy notes, a good number of Dems who decide to decide in favor of a multinational treaty with the evil empire of Iran, could shut down the damn attack by repubs by forbidding a vote in the first place!
