"cool" or "powerful" for people who feel uncool and powerless on some real level.</p> <p>When cigarettes stopped getting you dates, that was the tipping point for cigarettes. But nobody buys an AR-15 to get a date. They buy AR-15s because they can't get dates.</p> <p>It's tough to shame people out of a behavior that's already a response to underlying shame.</p> </div></div></div> Sun, 11 Oct 2015 02:21:47 +0000 Doctor Cleveland comment 213749 at http://dagblog.com Um, okay. For the sake of argument, given the investment of gun owners in their rights---doctors didn't rush to the microphone to protest their right to blow smoke into nurses' faces---I'm not sure whether gun control legislation will ever appear to be victimless. </p> </div></div></div> Sat, 10 Oct 2015 20:35:09 +0000 Oxy Mora comment 213742 at http://dagblog.com Screw you, man, this is just http://dagblog.com/comment/213741#comment-213741 <a id="comment-213741"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/comment/213740#comment-213740">Really good, barefooted.</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>Screw you, man, this is just the slippery slope towards taking away our guns.</p> </div></div></div> Sat, 10 Oct 2015 20:17:42 +0000 Oxy Mora comment 213741 at http://dagblog.com Really good, barefooted. http://dagblog.com/comment/213740#comment-213740 <a id="comment-213740"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/comment/213739#comment-213739">a href=&quot;http://www.evolveusa</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>Really good, barefooted.</p> </div></div></div> Sat, 10 Oct 2015 20:15:01 +0000 Oxy Mora comment 213740 at http://dagblog.com a href="http://www.evolveusa http://dagblog.com/comment/213739#comment-213739 <a id="comment-213739"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/gun-truth-movement-gun-truthers-19947">A Gun Truth Movement for Gun Truthers</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p><a href="http://www.evolveusa.com/">EvolveUsa is a grassroots group</a> that is trying a middle-ground approach, with a focus on gun safety.
