I believe a very strong case can be made that the governor violated the civil rights of Flint residents under color of state law and therefore is personally liable for the damages he caused pursuant to 18 42 U.S.C. Sec. 1983. He also is likely subject to criminal penalties including incarceration under 18 U.S.C. Sec. 242. Citizens have a right to clean water under the Safe Drinking Water Act and that right was clearly violated. I hope the Justice Department will be moving forward with criminal charges.

Who is this "you" you're talking about? Wasn't it clear from my blog that many of us have been fighting this since he took office? You apparently haven't been keeping up with the state takeover efforts of the Koch brothers and groups like ALEC, The Mackinac Center and American Crossroads.

The people who vote for the Republicans in the states they're targeting are voters who see abortion, gay rights and unions as the problem, not the economy or the crumbling infrastructure. The cabal counts on that. So these groups get together with the various governors and top Republican legislators and work out their strategies for takeover. Everything is scripted and designed to hoodwink the mainly uninformed. And once they've gerrymandered districts to suit them they almost can't lose.

The propaganda against liberals and their social programs has been going on for so long it's not hard to convince even people hurting because of the economy that we're the bad guys. Look how long the liberals have been promising to get things done and people are worse off now than they ever were. (That's their story.)

In Michigan, Snyder already had the advantage of a Republican majority legislature. When Jennifer Granholm, a Democrat, was governor before Snyder, they had already hobbled her to the point where all of her screaming and hollering fell on deaf ears. (And she was good at screaming and hollering.) So who got the blame when nothing got done? Jennifer Granholm.

As to the recall, there are several in the works. They've managed to think ahead and rig that system, too.

You have the right to recall this piece of shit, whom you elected 5 years ago so presumably re elected, but you don't deserve him being Governor?

How, then, might a supine, lazy and unconscious people come to deserve the fucking that the ruling class will always administer if permitted?

I do, too, Hal. Gov. Snyder has hired two attorneys to the tune of $249,000 each, to be paid out of taxpayer funds. One more dollar each and he would have had to get approval from the State Administrative Board. Slimy bastard.
