Despite what some may believe, her left-ish instincts were there long before Sanders - and she knows she's not fighting for the base vote anymore. If she chooses Warren it will be to shore up the enthusiasm gap among all Democrats, play to the economic populism on display by Republicans and to give herself the best ying to her yang against Trump.

Her campaign knows the optics that the event radiated ... if they aren't choosing Warren then they need to tap down expectations immediately. I'll be watching how this plays out in the coming days.

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 15:24:30 +0000 barefooted comment 224984 at http://dagblog.com Yeah, I see Clinton-Gore http://dagblog.com/comment/224983#comment-224983
In reply to As seems obvious, the so

Yeah, I see Clinton-Gore parallels too. As for being too liberal, I think the main risk category is socially liberal Wall Street types. I personally know people who will vote Clinton over Trump but might not be willing to vote Warren over Trump. But that would be at the top of the ticket. With Warren in the VP slot, I suspect this effect would be muted. I also suspect that she will turn more BernieOrBusters into Hillary supporters than WallStreeters into Trump supporters. But I'm just talking out of my ass here, so who knows.

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 14:02:13 +0000 Michael Wolraich comment 224983 at http://dagblog.com As seems obvious, the so http://dagblog.com/comment/224976#comment-224976
In reply to Clinton and Warren electrify Ohio crowd, sparking visions of a ticket

As seems obvious, the so-called tension between Clinton and Warren has been overhyped to the extreme from the beginning. Perhaps if they'd run against each other there'd be more of a problem, but frankly I think they've always had pretty compatible but different styles, and Hillary overall seems much more joyous, which works better at the top of the ticket (appeals to anger can become exhausting over time, so dynamics mixing more positive and more negative moments tend to maintain the long-term big mo').

I think there's also something of a Clinton-Gore "defying conventional wisdom" thing going that has good visuals and energy. How much the perception for some of "too liberal" digs into the overall campaigning and vote-winning positives is my only concern.

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 11:14:19 +0000 PeraclesPlease comment 224976 at http://dagblog.com
