The bottom line is that because the media is mostly white that have allowed Trump's white privilege to normalize white supremacy. Trump retweets racists and hires a white supremacist as his campaign CEO and it is treated as the norm. Imagine Obama hiring Louis Farrakhan. The MSM would immediately label Obama a black nationalist and question his patriotism. Polls document the bigotry of Trump voters and the MSM calls out Hillary for telling the truth. I think that minority voters have essentially given up hope that MSM will ever be reliable. MSM is trapped in it's own own racial bubble. Black radio (so-called urban media) called out the racism from the beginning. Trump promoted birtherism after Obama roasted him at a WH correspondent's dinner. Trump spent five years tormenting Obama. He continued his no-comment birther position until this week. Trump told all blacks that their credentials could be called into question. Trump cannot just walk away from this issue. MSM journalists may not have the ability to recognize how serious this attack by Trump was to African-Americans. MSM may let Trump get away with his pivot without demanding that he apologizes for his slander.

Joy Reid on MSNBC holds Republicans feet to the fire and points out when they are lying. Rachel Maddow gushed over Kellyanne Conway appearing on MSNBC. Conway was able to lie about Rogers Ailes not being one of Trump's advisers.

Obama knows that MSM grades Trump on a curve. Colin Powell feels that the MSM is the oxygen for the Trump campaign.. Even now, people make excuses for Trump voters. No one wants to place the label of bigotry on truly bigoted Trump voters. As far as this election cycle is concerned trying to be nice to them is not going to garner votes.What ends up happening is some Democratic voters believe that Trump voters have some deep point to make about government. The point is that they are bigots longing for the good old days. Trump has no policy except that he will put minorities in their place.

The national fraternal order of police today came out for Trump. It took a 2/3 vote of their national board. I guess the deportations of illegals didn't get the love of cops either.

The cops endorsed Trump - the psycho candidate who wants assault rifles for everybody. That will make their job easier...?

And for what? He struggled so hard for compromise that he pissed off the left but the republicans still call him the most divisive president in American history. Example one: He deported so many Mexicans in the vain hope that republicans would see he was controlling the border and illegal immigration and pass an immigration bill. Far more than Bush to the point that hispanics were calling him the deportation president. And got nothing for it

The majority of people voting for Clinton and supporting Obama already knew the truth. Many of us realize that Trump was appealing to bigots. The polling shows that Trump supporters are bigots. We gave up a long time ago that there were Trump supporters voting on economics or other issues. The excuse that there is something else other than race is something that is used to try to give cover to racists. Trump flipped on immigration,now he has flipped on birtherism. His own finances are a shambles and he loves Putin. Trump's campaign is fueled by the idea that blacks will not fare better than whites.

There is no big surprise here. Trump wanted to advertise his new DC hotel. The media helped. Most of us realize that for the most part, MSM functions as useful idiots for Trump. The media outrage over birtherism will be a weekend story no matter what Obama says.

But it's not silly at all, especially not with the Republican presidential nominee is behind it. There is no need for him to stay above the fray at this point. He should smash Trump hard and let the sound of the smackdown echo through the airwaves. No one listens to the Clinton's subordinates. Only Obama can make this count.
