Wow! That was cool! I jumped off a 40' cliff into the Caribbean once. Why? Because I wanted to see what it felt like. Did I learn anything? Yes:

Money, challenge, control of self, embarrassment, peer pressure....

They were offered $30 to jump - kind of a minimal amount to go "why the heck not?" until you get 10m up and look down.

I still get a kick thinking about how each of these people might argue from a Republican or Democratic viewpoint on any of the standard issues we've discussed the last year - say super confident in digital ink, scared shitless hopping off a board, impatient with others but quite fragile themselves... Yeah, goes for myself as well.

Maybe if we could force people to have debates on the 10m platform and *then* jump off, either depending on X or Y condition or simply because, it would change the meter of the arguing. Would someone feel cocky enough to pop a protestor in the mouth if they were up 10m high and about to step into space? Okay, ex-military folks and divers may not have any problem, but still, it adds a different dynamic to a stereotypical situation.

To be honest, my first reaction, and a strong one, is "why?" Why are they even contemplating doing it? Because it's supposed to be fun? Who said so? Why do they believe them?
