Merkel has a certain affinity for the mundane and bland to survive East German disappointment and bleakness. She's managed more than 1 prima donna politiician in her low-key style. Trump grossed her out with the massage thing & Putin managed to pin her down exploiting her dog-phobia, but I don't think Trump has the dossier on her - I expect her to use one of those kitsch little Bavarian nutcrackers on his ball sack if he gets too far out of line. Besides, Trump's grandfather was a German draft dodger who tried to get back in but Germany wouldn't let him - if he wants to play the immigration thing with her, he's going to have a lot of crow to chew on. Queen Elizabeth? Her father was Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, a fine old German dynasty. Poor boy from Queens doesn't stand a chance.

Sat, 11 Mar 2017 19:25:18 +0000 PeraclesPlease comment 235187 at http://dagblog.com Maybe she should study up on http://dagblog.com/comment/235179#comment-235179
In reply to When Trump Meets Merkel, Expect a ‘Robust’ Exchange

Maybe she should study up on Mama Trump?

In his 1997 book, “The Art of the Comeback,” Trump praised his mother—and indirectly criticized other women in his life. “Part of the problem I’ve had with women has been in having to compare them to my incredible mother, Mary Trump,” Trump wrote. “My mother is smart as hell.” Trump named a room after his mother at Mar-a-Lago.

[....] “Looking back, I realize now that I got some of my sense of showmanship from my mother,” Trump wrote in his 1987 book, “The Art of the Deal.” He recounted his mother “being enthralled by the pomp and circumstance” of watching Queen Elizabeth’s coronation on television. “She always had a flair for the dramatic and grand. She was a very traditional housewife, but she also had a sense of the world beyond her.”

Sat, 11 Mar 2017 18:30:13 +0000 artappraiser comment 235179 at http://dagblog.com
