He cited similarities with U.S. election hacks that have been previously attributed to that group.

APT28 last month registered decoy internet addresses to mimic the name of En Marche, which it likely used send tainted emails to hack into the campaign’s computers, Kremez said. Those domains include onedrive-en-marche.fr and mail-en-marche.fr.

"If indeed driven by Moscow, this leak appears to be a significant escalation over the previous Russian operations aimed at the U.S. presidential election, expanding the approach and scope of effort from simple espionage efforts towards more direct attempts to sway the outcome," Kremez said.

Added to the evidence that the GRU-connected hackers are also falsifying documents, it will be interesting to see how they escalate these operations against Merkel in the German election, given that she is turning out to be Putin's new Bête Noire. Bizarre that Russia still faces no repercussions for these actions. Are Trump and Tillerson really so deep in Putin's pocket that they are fighting any suggestion of counter-measures?

Sat, 06 May 2017 14:16:54 +0000 Obey comment 237502 at http://dagblog.com Caught this on twitter: http://dagblog.com/comment/237501#comment-237501
In reply to Macron Campaign Says It Was Target of ‘Massive’ Hacking Attack

Caught this on twitter:

https://twitter.com/matthew_d_green/status/860825794876231684

metadata traces the bahama offshore account documents to Russia.

Sat, 06 May 2017 14:03:36 +0000 Obey comment 237501 at http://dagblog.com Latest poll says it's 63% for http://dagblog.com/comment/237496#comment-237496
In reply to Well, there is no question

Latest poll says it's 63% for Macron and 37% for Le Pen, with 89% CERTAIN of their current choice, and numbers trending in Macron's favor. So I don't think it will affect anyone's votes.

I didn't see the debate, but friends who watched said it was the worst debate in memory, with little discussion of policy proposals.
