Still, if/when Trump burns out, there will be more collateral damage for Republicans than the top 2 positions, and it *will* translate into a major cleansing in Nov 2018. Americans can endure and even abet/encourage thievery. My guess is they won't abide out and out treason, and that's where we're headed is such a verdict.

Sat, 06 May 2017 22:11:24 +0000 PeraclesPlease comment 237521 at http://dagblog.com Debbie Downer reminder: your http://dagblog.com/comment/237518#comment-237518
In reply to One can only hope. (Or er, shoud he be tainted too, President Ryan?)

That said, I always thought it quite possible that Trump could resign or be convinced to resign. Just started reading this at The New Yorker ("How Trump Could Get Fired; The Constitution offers two main paths for removing a President from office. How feasible are they?") and right in the beginning I see

....Jerry Taylor, the president of the Niskanen Center, a libertarian think tank.... Very few Republicans in Congress have openly challenged Trump, but Taylor cautioned against interpreting that as committed support. “My guess is that there’s only between fifty and a hundred Republican members of the House that are truly enthusiastic about Donald Trump as President,” he said. “The balance sees him as somewhere between a deep and dangerous embarrassment and a threat to the Constitution.” ....

A reminder that Trump's general modus operandi has been to walk away from anything that he sees as a fail. So that he can always be a winner. The failing is blamed on others. The others didn't let his genius shine as a dictator, so he walks.

And everyone in the GOP would by this stage probably prefer to work with Pence or Ryan. With whom they could execute plans more efficiently.

Be careful what you wish for?

Edit to add, I just got to say that this is related: those who think Obama voters who switched to Trump are enemies of the left of the aisle and not worth chasing because they all must be racists or idiots or whatever...some of these people would have never voted for Pence or Ryan alone. Theu voted for Obama and for Trump because of some promises made or hopes arisen that were common to both, even if just imagined. And are not common to the GOP.

Sat, 06 May 2017 21:24:30 +0000 artappraiser comment 237518 at http://dagblog.com Swalwell making the TV rounds http://dagblog.com/comment/237513#comment-237513
In reply to Peracles, you must redo the

Swalwell making the TV rounds - either there's more info or they're fighting against the attacks against the Intel committee, but he's not mincing his words about collusion.

Yes, Dick - the link works, but here it is again: https://apnews.com/amp/b109774705594ae887a86b337c444e6b

Sat, 06 May 2017 16:13:57 +0000 PeraclesPlease comment 237513 at http://dagblog.com Peracles, you must redo the http://dagblog.com/comment/237512#comment-237512
In reply to Yikes, Sandy - Flynn asked CIA for Kislyak file

Peracles, you must redo the link with the link icon after you URL it.

The URL does not work

Sat, 06 May 2017 16:04:46 +0000 Richard Day comment 237512 at http://dagblog.com Early pardons will be http://dagblog.com/comment/237511#comment-237511
In reply to Yikes, Sandy - Flynn asked CIA for Kislyak file

Early pardons will be interesting.

Yates, YIKES....

Monday will be fun.

Never ask a question to which you do not know the answer beforehand. hahahaha

The repubs are overseeing these hearings; which is hilarious in itself.

As Mornin Joke put it years ago

Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi....

And everybody has seen this:

Congressional Hearings are Barnum & Bailey; for sure.

hahhah

Sat, 06 May 2017 16:03:10 +0000 Richard Day comment 237511 at http://dagblog.com BTW, every good resident http://dagblog.com/comment/237509#comment-237509
In reply to Wow! I would have been highly skeptical this could have happened to near this extent 6 months ago, and while we're making progress, part of that progress is discovering just how much bigger the real problem is.
