Clapper contradicts Trump too, in interview Friday afternoon. Says he didn't say what Trump said he did. Disagrees with a lot of Trump's statements. Says

“I think what needs to happen here is to clear this cloud, the cloud that’s hanging over the administration, over the president, over the White House,” he continued. “And it would be in everyone’s best interest to get to the bottom of this — and for the country, otherwise this is gonna continue to linger as a dark cloud over, in my opinion, over this administration.”

The alternate reality that is inhabiting our presidency is really starting to get to me, a long time fan of American pop culture. Forget Hollywood, even Indie directors wouldn't dare make up this current lede on WaPo's home page:

Way beyond "The Truman Show", it's all a game and talk show to him. I've seen two or three Senators say something along these lines now: The president is not taking this seriously.
