The Americans immediately said it was likely their bombing, but couldn't be sure if ISIS had tricked them with civilians or if it was just a mistake. I didn't recall that kind of willingness to consider error on the Russians' part - more like "anyone but us" - "chemical weapons? we don't know nuttin bout dat - probly da rebelz"

And again, it seems the Americans have put in procedures to make it unlikely it'll happen again. But go ahead, 'both sides do it".

If you recall, the excuse that it was a set-up was the story that was put out immediately after the bombing, before any investigation it came right out of the fog. The story came up in an exchange between us when I pointed out that it was the very same story put out by the Russians in a mirror image incident when the Syrians supposedly used gas in a bombing attack. It is plausible in either case.

Also as suspected, ISIS set up secondary explosions that killed 140 civilians off a US air strike a month ago.

All to get 2 days of damning press coverage against the coalition. The good thing is the allies appear to have used the incident to figure out a way to not get tricked into bombing human shields. What a bunch of bastards.
