I am glad to see the Times piece addressing Medicaid and nursing home coverage, as I think this could turn a lot of people who would normally be supportive against what the GOP was doing if they knew and understood. Most people don't realize it until they have to deal with a loved one on Medicare being sent from hospital to nursing home that Medicare does not cover it.

(Most also don't know about the special category of Long Term Acute Care Hospital chains invented by Bush business buddies, two corporate chain start ups, during his presidency, created to be able to get Medicare funding when the hospital doesn't want Mom there no more but she needs more serious care than a nursing home. If the docs on your case okay this, you've got Medicare covering her stay, and may avoid the whole nursing home problem, but you've got to know about that scam to access it. Make no mistake, in the end, in red states, it's still always about shifting the cost to the Feds as much as possible, without making it look like that's happening.Because without the Feds covering nursing homes, it's basically the estate tax to end all estate taxes, the nursing home will take everything.)

Sun, 25 Jun 2017 00:06:18 +0000 artappraiser comment 239912 at http://dagblog.com WaPo just published two http://dagblog.com/comment/239911#comment-239911
In reply to After Secrecy, Senate G.O.P. As part of its budget, it froze enrollment in the state’s exploding ObamaCare expansion, effective 2018. This move will not only protect Ohio’s truly needy, but will surely influence the ongoing debate over ObamaCare repeal in Washington D.C.

Ohio’s ObamaCare expansion has been hemorrhaging for some time. The Kasich administration promised enrollment in the program would never exceed 447,000 non-disabled, working-age adults. But, as of last month, enrollment has surpassed 725,000, showing no signs of stopping.

This enrollment surge has created a cost explosion as well. In fact, the latest data from the state indicate the program is nearly $7 billion over budget and that number is expected to climb to more than $8 billion by year’s end. Altogether, the program has cost nearly twice what was promised when implemented.

Ohio taxpayers really began to feel the pinch in January when ObamaCare’s “free ride” ended and the state started paying five percent of the expansion costs. Every penny that goes to expansion is a penny that can’t go to education, public safety, or services for seniors, poor children, and individuals with disabilities.

But thankfully for taxpayers and Ohio’s truly needy citizens, the legislature is stepping up to the plate with a bold solution [....]

Also yesterday:

Kasich: I have 'deep concerns' about Senate health plan

By Julia Manchester @ The Hill, 06/22/17 06:12 PM EDT

Kasich, Portman decline to back Senate GOP health care bill to replace Obamacare

By Chrissie Thompson @ The Cincinnati Enquirer, June 22, 5:06 pm

Fri, 23 Jun 2017 22:18:00 +0000 artappraiser comment 239870 at http://dagblog.com
