I do prefer the Obama style of faith tradition. Obama could not have given the eulogy for Clementa Pinckney, the slain SC pastor, without a strong a Christian core. It was part of his daily life. There was no need to pretend to have faith as we see with Donald Trump. Trump is the guy who went to Liberty University and quoted "Two Corinthians" rather than "Second Corinthians". The students and faculty laughed off the mistake. Trump plays the Evangelicals for chumps and they willingly go along.

As to the Oval Office blasphemers and hypocrites, Bannon may have brought them in as a mini- victory rally for Agent Orange, and a palliative move for that small but possibly growing part of The Base with some still functioning mental acuity to objectively discern reality.

These Evangelicals have sold themselves to the Devil in the form of Donald Trump. They have a core belief that God is the ultimate power. This view is shared by other Christians. The departure comes when these Evangelicals state that man determines his own fate and that allowing government to do things that man should do for himself makes government the supreme power, minimizing God. Obamacare has to be rejected because is taking on a role that is reserved for the Church. They have no problem living with 20 million people being kicked off supplemented health care because charity and the Church will take care of these people. Do not ask where the Church was before Obamacare.

Note: other Christians favor their government acting in a kindly manner to those in need. There is no fear that government will replace God. Government, in some cases, may act in a positive manner. Government by definition will not be perfect.

We wind up with the Ken Burns question for Evangelicals: "What part of Donald Trump reminds you of Jesus Christ?"
