Can't they see that a huge majority admires bi-partisanship.

I found it very useful to read his return remarks in this new light. Maybe where McCain deserves the accolades is trying to slap his colleagues upside the head, saying hello, wake up, remember you are Senators and are supposed to be the equals of the president

“We are an important check on the powers of the Executive. Our consent is necessary for the President to appoint jurists and powerful government officials and in many respects to conduct foreign policy. Whether or not we are of the same party, we are not the President’s subordinates. We are his equal!
“As his responsibilities are onerous, many and powerful, so are ours. And we play a vital role in shaping and directing the judiciary, the military, and the cabinet, in planning and supporting foreign and domestic policies. Our success in meeting all these awesome constitutional obligations depends on cooperation among ourselves.
“The success of the Senate is important to the continued success of America.

More importantly, he was chastising them that they used to have principles, that they should quit pandering like stupid idiots to the propagandists for some supposed political gain and start being genuine legislators:

“I hope we can again rely on humility, on our need to cooperate, on our dependence on each other to learn how to trust each other again and by so doing better serve the people who elected us. Stop listening to the bombastic loudmouths on the radio and television and the Internet. To hell with them. They don’t want anything done for the public good. Our incapacity is their livelihood.

“Let’s trust each other. Let’s return to regular order. We’ve been spinning our wheels on too many important issues because we keep trying to find a way to win without help from across the aisle. That’s an approach that’s been employed by both sides, mandating legislation from the top down, without any support from the other side, with all the parliamentary maneuvers that requires.

Fri, 28 Jul 2017 18:59:34 +0000 artappraiser comment 240956 at http://dagblog.com Art... All good points... http://dagblog.com/comment/240950#comment-240950
In reply to Yes, what I think now is that

Art... All good points...

But I'll still keep it simple.

Donald must learn that you don't crap in someone's lap and not expect repercussions.

======
~OGD~

Fri, 28 Jul 2017 17:48:09 +0000 oldenGoldenDecoy comment 240950 at http://dagblog.com Yes, what I think now is that http://dagblog.com/comment/240940#comment-240940
In reply to McCain Sticks it up Donald's Assteroid-Orifice Sideways

deleting duplicate comment adding more instead. I do not necessarily think it's because he believes in Obamacare or even in covering everyone. I don't actually know what he believes should happen on health care policy. What I suspect might be going on from what I have seen him say and do since Trump won is that he thinks what is going on is bad for the Republican party. And his own health care crisis has made him sure of what he doesn't want to see happen: sloppily fucking up the fifth of the economy that is health care, the most important part of the economy to most people. Doesn't think it a smart thing for the GOP to do as he doesn't think it's the right thing for the American people.

Fri, 28 Jul 2017 16:47:28 +0000 artappraiser comment 240940 at http://dagblog.com Yes, what I think now is that http://dagblog.com/comment/240939#comment-240939
In reply to McCain Sticks it up Donald's Assteroid-Orifice Sideways

Yes, what I think now is that his first vote was tactical, to bring it to the floor, to make this happen.

Fri, 28 Jul 2017 16:32:54 +0000 artappraiser comment 240939 at http://dagblog.com
