If it was professionally written or proofed by grownups, I commend them on their skill of getting grade-school-level Trump speak spot-on!

That said: without much detail how can someone with my predilections complain too much? As much as specialists can tell from such a vague speech, "they" (whoever they are, we don't exactly know! we are to presume it is Mattis and McMaster) plan on continuing with Bush and Obama doctrine on the matter but importantly adding: seriously cracking down on the two-faced namby pamby treatment of Pakistan and adding in any lessons from mistakes made during the Obama years. The Pakistan crack down is the one key thing that's been missing all along, that which assured total failure. I believe if we had handled Pakistan roughly from 9/12/01 onward instead of worrying about and spending great gobs of life and treasure going after Saddam Hussein, it would have all been over long ago. It might be too late now but immediate withdrawal will assure total failure too, as Obama himself decided even though he was loathe to.

But yeah, very strange on the quality of the speech itself. One thing it brought up for me: when he is using a teleprompter, he gets this whole tone and presentation like he is speaking someone else's words, he's terrible at that. We shouldn't presume one way or another that he agrees or disagrees just because he sounds like he's being forced to say it, he is just shitty at delivering from a teleprompter.

Tue, 22 Aug 2017 21:54:05 +0000 artappraiser comment 242054 at http://dagblog.com
