Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) is standing by his tough criticisms of President Trump.

"My thoughts were well thought out," Corker told CNN. "Look, I didn't just blurt them out. My comments -- my comments, I stand by them -- yes."

The GOP senator said he had repeatedly tried to share his concerns through private communications and meetings, saying the frustration has been "building for some time" before he decided to speak out.

"Look I've been expressing concerns for some time and it's built over time. I've had private dinners, I've had private phone calls, I've tried to intervene on topics that I thought things were going in a different direction and are not going to be good for our country.

"This is not a new thing, it's been building for some time. And it's a pattern that I think we've fought and expressed for some period of time," he told the news outlet [...]

Sen. Bob Corker escalated his war of words with the White House on Friday, admonishing President Donald Trump for what the senator called an effort to “castrate” the secretary of state and actions that are pushing U.S. diplomatic efforts to the brink of “World War III.”

Corker (R-Tenn.) [...] slammed the president by saying he was undermining Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and creating scenarios in which the United States might be forced to choose between waging war on North Korea or Iran or allowing those countries to threaten the U.S. with nuclear weapons.

“You cannot publicly castrate your own secretary of state without giving yourself that binary choice,” Corker told The Washington Post in an interview Friday. He added that it was the undercutting of Tillerson that he was “most exercised about.”

According to Corker, the secretary was in fact one of Trump’s greatest assets, and had made strides toward improving relationships with other global powers, notably China.

“The greatest diplomatic activities we have are with China, and the most important, and they have come a long, long way,” he said. “Some of the things we are talking about are phenomenal." [....]

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is offering support to Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) amid a war of words between the latter and President Trump.

"Sen. Corker is a valuable member of the Senate Republican caucus and he’s also on the Budget committee and a particularly important player as we move to the floor on the budget next week and he’s an important part of our team,” McConnell said Monday in Kentucky, according to the Associated Press.

Asked about whether he agreed with Corker's criticism of Trump, McConnell sidestepped, adding: "[Corker is] an important part of our team and he's a particularly important part of the budget debate which will be on the floor next week." [....]

oh I don't believe that title of that Breitbart story for a New York minute, I'm originally from Packerland. The point is that Breitbart is basically willing to attack god, mom and apple pie. I didn't look at the story much less the comments, but I suspect there's a lot of screaming in the comments over there even from the wingnuts.
