But that doesn't mean it will hurt them no matter how unpopular the bill is. It's not just whether people have a favorable or unfavorable position on something. It's also how important that issue is to them and how strongly they feel about it. People may prioritize other issues and not care that much about the tax bill even if it polls badly.

Mon, 18 Dec 2017 20:51:35 +0000 ocean-kat comment 246118 at http://dagblog.com If this tax cut follows http://dagblog.com/comment/246106#comment-246106
In reply to How Republicans Learned to Sell Tax Cuts for the Rich

If this tax cut follows history, public distaste will increase over time. The tax cuts actually punish wealthy states like California and New York. Wealthy donors in these states may respond by withholding donations.

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/will-passing-the-tax-bill-help-the-gop-in-2018-probably-not/

Mon, 18 Dec 2017 19:29:02 +0000 rmrd0000 comment 246106 at http://dagblog.com Except they're not even http://dagblog.com/comment/246108#comment-246108
In reply to How Republicans Learned to Sell Tax Cuts for the Rich

Except they're not even selling it.
