Amanda Stenberg, a biracial actress, wanted to be in the movie but didn’t fight for the part because her skin color didn’t fit in with the Africans depicted in the movie. It is likely that she would have been up for the role of T’challa’s sister. Stenberg played Rue in the first Hunger Games movie

http://www.cbc.ca/arts/5-things-you-should-probably-know-about-amandla-stenberg-1.4549677

Thu, 01 Mar 2018 23:39:51 +0000 rmrd0000 comment 249447 at http://dagblog.com Haven’t been to the http://dagblog.com/comment/249347#comment-249347
In reply to Drezner's characterization:

Haven’t been to the barbershop to see what is available (smile)

I do have it pre-ordered on Amazon Video

Here is an argument that Killmonger was right in destroying oppressors.

http://www.pulse.ng/communities/bloggers/black-panther-killmonger-was-right-id8035119.html

Killmonger’s death robbed us of an opportunity to see a merger of Killmonger’s rage and T’challa’s compassion. The real world version would have been a combining of Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. DuBois, or Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. To sum up: Wakanda is a technologically sophisticated country that has pursued a grand strategy of isolationism. It purposefully shields knowledge about its power and capabilities from the outside world, exploiting stereotypes and prejudices about sub-Saharan Africa to sustain its subterfuge. At the start of the film, many of Wakanda’s power brokers are fine with this, though some have their doubts.

The plot is driven by a contender to the throne who wants to use Wakanda’s technology to create a vast empire upon which “the sun will never set.” This expansionist policy is rejected, but by the end of the film there is a change in the country’s grand strategy. In one of the closing scenes, Wakanda’s leader T’Challa announces at the United Nations that the country will share its technology with the rest of the world.

.....

Wed, 28 Feb 2018 19:25:45 +0000 AmericanDreamer comment 249344 at http://dagblog.com Louis Gossett Jr. said that http://dagblog.com/comment/248827#comment-248827
In reply to We might think of days when

Louis Gossett Jr. said that his role in An Officer and a Gentleman was written for a white actor.
