Thanks for the compliments. I actually do it because manual compilation somewhere helps me figure things out, it's the way my brain works, how I read and think. If others do it with me as a team, so much the better, much, much. Someone like you, who appears to be an ultra careful and very thoughtful reader, (which I am not always,I am instead always scanning things for patterns) is a perfect example of how teamwork is such fun.

*On the research thing being a skill-yes to a fault-people like lawyers and doctors tend not to like me unless they are really really good at what they do.

Kushner, Russia bombshells rock the White House

Washington (CNN)A volley of stunning revelations over Jared Kushner and the Russia probe are rocking Donald Trump's inner circle and suggest a pivotal moment is at hand in the West Wing personnel wars that have raged throughout his presidency.

First, it emerged Tuesday that chief of staff John Kelly downgraded the top secret security clearance for the President's son-in-law in a bid to clear up a scandal over whether top administration players are qualified to access the most sensitive intelligence.

Then, The Washington Post published a bombshell report that at least four countries had discussed how to use Kushner's sparse experience, financial troubles and intricate business arrangements to manipulate him.

Hours later, CNN reported that special counsel Robert Mueller is asking questions about Trump's business dealings with Russia before the President's campaign, a potentially significant development in the investigation [....]

Scoop: Josh Raffel leaving White House

@ Axios.com, Feb. 27

Senior communications official Josh Raffel is leaving the White House, Axios has learned.

Why it matters: Raffel, a former Hollywood PR executive, was originally brought in early last year to run communications for the Office of American Innovation, but quickly became the point man internally for Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump. Even though Raffel was a Democrat and Hillary Clinton supporter, White House staff (including some Trump originals) told me they were surprised how quickly they grew to like and trust him.

One White House official told me that when there’s a crisis “we call Josh.” The official said he didn’t envy Raffel because “he is always handling the worst stories.” [.....]

Raffel oversaw communications for the Israeli-Palestinian negotiations, worked with Gary Cohn on a number of NEC issues, including tax reform, and also formed a close relationship with Michael Anton at the National Security Council [.....]

Short while ago, I saw reporter Ken Vogel of NYTimes actually tell Brian Williams on MSNBC that the timing of the "Parscale running Trump 2020 campaign" announcement was a bone of support for Jared. Because Parscale is Jared's guy/buddy. Subtle suggestion by NYT that White House knows Jared's in big trouble. The suggestion is repeated in this report, by Haberman & Rogers, not Vogel:

Foreign officials sought leverage over Kushner via his business dealings and debts, U.S. officials say

It is unclear if any countries acted on the discussions, but contacts between foreign government officials and Jared Kushner, the president's son-in-law and adviser, have raised concerns inside the White House and are a reason he has been unable to obtain a permanent security clearance, the officials said.
