Meanwhile,the way it seems to me after reading two pieces @ Politico, the GOP Congress has these problems:

1. They are freaking out that the whole Deep State thingie isn't working out that well to grow the voter base for 2018 re-election purposes: Republicans fear they botched Russia report rollout/ GOP lawmakers are on the defensive after challenging the intelligence community’s findings on election meddling.

2. Has Newt Gingrich and other old cranks on their ass still stoking the Deep State thingie with the base: Emails reveal conservative alarm over ‘Obama holdovers’ in Trump administration/‘A cleaning is in order,’ wrote a former aide to Vice President Dick Cheney, as State Department officials reassigned a career diplomat of Iranian descent.
