Sometimes, he will ask permission from reporters to remove his coat or tie with an elaborate politeness. He is given to grandiloquent declarations of integrity. “One thing I am not, is I am not a liar,” was an example recalled by a Republican consultant who has spoken with him often. “I am always truthful. People can call me a lot of things, but one thing I am is a truthful person.”</p> </blockquote> <p>Kinda a Mark Twain persona mixed with an old school Washington pedigree (h/t for "grandiloquent") that makes him a necessary component in the eventual Pence presidency.  He's much better at it than his boss - and he knows it.</p> </div></div></div> Fri, 16 Mar 2018 17:22:46 +0000 barefooted comment 250175 at http://dagblog.com Not God's Garden and Guns? http://dagblog.com/comment/250174#comment-250174 <a id="comment-250174"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/comment/250173#comment-250173">P.S. they have a magazine</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>Not God's Garden and Guns?</p> </div></div></div> Fri, 16 Mar 2018 17:00:34 +0000 PeraclesPlease comment 250174 at http://dagblog.com P.S. they have a magazine http://dagblog.com/comment/250173#comment-250173 <a id="comment-250173"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/comment/250172#comment-250172">I do happen to know a little</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>P.S. they have a magazine founded in 2007 in an effort to keep the culture alive: <em><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garden_%26_Gun">Garden and Gun</a></em> .Just had an interesting thought:  no place for Steve Bannon types in it, that's for sure, he's like "from the other side of the tracks."</p> </div></div></div> Fri, 16 Mar 2018 16:31:07 +0000 artappraiser comment 250173 at http://dagblog.com I do happen to know a little http://dagblog.com/comment/250172#comment-250172 <a id="comment-250172"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/comment/250171#comment-250171">What, you got something</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>I do happen to know a little about the remaining pockets of Stepford Southern culture. The 1950's never left, they still do things like register for silver and china when they get married and can't abide modern art much less abstract. I don't know whether this is good or bad, but I suspect for most of these folk, they would find Trumpco to be hideously gauche.</p> </div></div></div> Fri, 16 Mar 2018 16:15:10 +0000 artappraiser comment 250172 at http://dagblog.com What, you got something http://dagblog.com/comment/250171#comment-250171 <a id="comment-250171"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/comment/250170#comment-250170">Finally got around to it and:</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>What, you got something against Stepford children?</p> </div></div></div> Fri, 16 Mar 2018 16:03:35 +0000 PeraclesPlease comment 250171 at http://dagblog.com Finally got around to it and: http://dagblog.com/comment/250170#comment-250170 <a id="comment-250170"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/link/ayers-rock-pences-firewall-24718">Ayers rock: Pence&#039;s firewall</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>Finally got around to it and: Plenty scary article!
