Stroop was executed in Poland after the war. The ghetto had shops with skilled leather workers and tailoring shops producing items for the German Army. Work for the war effort was one of the only reasons any were still alive in 1943.</p> <p>From Stroop report text:</p> <p><em>Moreover, the Jews had succeeded in fortifying some of these factories as centers of resistance. Such a center of resistance in an Army accommodation office had to be attacked as early as the second day of the action by an Engineer's Unit equipped with flame throwers and by artillery. In the early years, King did apply for a gun permit. Alabama refused his request. King believed in the use of a weapon for personal protection of others. As he grew in his philosophy of nonviolence, he gave up on personally owning a gun. After his home was bombed, the men who provided protection for the home were unarmed. King realized that armed black men would have been cut down by the more numerous weapons of the white police and citizens.
