RM is right this guy is a self promoting blowhard ("feral thugs...horrific...the most moral nation on earth...Trump is unfairly limited...the fire of national promise is going out..unleash the troops...because it is the moral thing to do...") He uses 24 personal pronouns. We do not need to know how many hours he worked 20-30 years ago at what wage rate or what he cultivated as to personal excellence and virtue. We do not need his testimony on his covenants or hearsay from 13 year olds. Or the $120 claim.

Hill is a philosopher. He is promoting his new book. He gives lectures in London on "cosmopolitanism". He knows jack about law enforcement in Chicago. He knows even less about the military.

The national guard is available for call up by the state governor, or at the request of a mayor, to police streets if necessary. They have training on civil law enforcement and come from the community or region.

The military has other jobs to do and other training. Most are 18-22 with high school diplomas and little experience outside their home towns. They sign up for 3-5 years of carefully structured training for the difficult and critical jobs they will be asked to do, which does not include cleaning up gangs in big cities.

The President can call up the National Guard in emergencies (NOT THE MILITARY), but President's have done so only 12 times, most notably when the state authorities refused to do so.

Why do you think I don’t understand him? He expressed his thoughts that he wants Trump to suspend Posse Comitatus. He fears for his community. His tribe’s solution is not workable. Compare Chicago today to the homicide rate in the 1990s. Compare the 2017 homicide rate to that of 2018. The rate is decreasing. His proposal does not make sense. Blacks aren’t required to all think alike. I linked to polls that show differences of opinion among blacks. You repeatedly say that I speak for all blacks. That construct exists purely in your mind. I took his fears and ideas seriously. I made no jokes or snide comments.

Yes it's crazy fear. Emotional, not logical. Maybe he's lost people who were close, neighbors, students. Maybe something else, like being dissed for being a Caribbean immigrant, Chicago doesn't have as many of those as NY does.

But what strikes me here is that you really don't want to understand the fears of other tribes, do you? You just want to discredit him instead. Like Sean Hannity does with liberals: a fake, a fraud ,a phony, It must be a fake because you don't know anyone who thinks like this.

Blacks in Chicago must all think alike otherwise they are fakes. And all the other tribes must understand the fears of the tribe for which you claim to speak, and to not be dismissive of those fears. But be dismissive of all the others who feel different? Their stories can't be real?
