We will work aggressively to educate policymakers and others about the facts,” James Davis, executive vice president of Freedom partners said. “Tariffs and other trade barriers make us poorer. They raise prices for those who can least afford it. That’s why this issue is so important,” Davis said. “This announcement is a demonstration of our long-term commitment to advance common-sense trade policies that will ensure America’s brightest days are ahead, and to directly confront the protectionist ideas that would hold us back.”

The move marks one of the biggest splits between the politically powerful Koch network and President Trump. The groups are calling on the president to lift recent tariffs on aluminum and steel imports as well as the proposed tariffs on other imports from China.

They are also asking Congress to require votes on any future tariffs [....]

Tue, 05 Jun 2018 05:58:50 +0000 artappraiser comment 253399 at http://dagblog.com meanwhile: http://dagblog.com/comment/253365#comment-253365
In reply to Donald Trump's steel,

meanwhile:

The United Steelworkers Union is calling on the Trump admin to exempt Canada from steel and aluminum tariffs, saying that the tariffs are "wrongheaded" because they would hurt the industry in both countries. https://t.co/llr5bG1R3Y
— Kyle Griffin (@kylegriffin1) June 3, 2018

Mon, 04 Jun 2018 00:39:01 +0000 artappraiser comment 253365 at http://dagblog.com Donald Trump's steel, http://dagblog.com/comment/253364#comment-253364
In reply to Republicans gobsmacked by Trump’s tariffs

here's the admin propaganda

Donald Trump's steel, aluminum tariffs lift low and moderate income families https://t.co/DtGoBuqSYf via @usatoday
— Laura Ingraham (@IngrahamAngle) June 3, 2018

Mon, 04 Jun 2018 00:37:14 +0000 artappraiser comment 253364 at http://dagblog.com good point, it's sort of like http://dagblog.com/comment/253363#comment-253363
In reply to Trade deals and tariffs have

good point, it's sort of like the direct opposite of Bill Clinton & Robert Rubin micro-managing the trade economy with like getting bananas about bananas, this is mis-micro-managing it? I've been working on increasing the size of my solar system so I have enough electricity to run a freezer. The message for consumers of pork is to invest in a freezer to take advantage of the amazingly cheap price of pork this year. The message for me is to get that solar system upgraded. Though pork prices will like be higher some years from now depending on how many producers go bankrupt this year, this year will be a windfall as producers reduce prices to get rid of the surplus pork.

eta: I just read your link.
