(I am cynical, though, suspecting maybe Melania secretly helped turn this one fairly quickly, only because the fan base poll numbers didn't seem that upset and because of that he may have dug his heels in for quite some time until the child detentions became a huge massive mess with daily horror reports from allover the country. Having just read this on his desire to look tough, which I think is spot on. I am also recalling, though, his speech regarding the Syria bombing where he went on and on about Assad targeting "little children, little babies", he does seem to get the macho thing where toughness includes protecting babeees.)

Irony that the same hate filled idiots of the core Republican base that were ranting and seething over the "Hillary Comet Ping Pong Pizza child trafficking ring", to the extent one invaded the place and shot it up to "free" them, is cheering Trump as he locks these kids in his hostage pens.

This is untenable. It is unsustainable as a practical matter as the numbers of children grow, but even the most cynical among us will add to the groundswell until it will. not. stand. Start counting the days.
