Everyone in America, and all modern democracies, is for socialism. The debate is about how much socialism. Those who claim to be against socialism have simply decided that the degree of socialism we now have is generally the correct amount of socialism therefore it isn't socialism. Social security, medicare, medicaid, unemployment insurance, food stamps, CHIP, SCHIP, etc.

While I'm not for socialism, having a democratic socialist holding office in a democratic, capitalist country often works out rather well.

Ocasio-Cortez ran in a heavily Democratic issues on local issues. Trump was not a focus. However, her constituents knew her heart. While Democratic leadership shiedcaway from talk of impeachment, she was clear that she thought there was enough evidence to impeach Trump.

welcome. I will add, from the context, which is the question of her being labeled a socialist and that could scare, like older voters, I think she's really saying this: talk individual issues, don't name call and label our opponents and they won't be able to do it to someone like me, just say no to such labelling, always redirect to issues

And I do think that wise, because in the end, in the context of someone running for office, name calling looks feeble if you are talking issues and also if you take the bait and return in kind all you get is a shouting match which gets you: nowhere, heels dug in sand
