It's true that even as we're reading about and experiencing low unemployment, which is leading to employers trying to lure applicants in as they haven't previously, we're still stuck with low wages. Makes no sense. From the shortage of truckers* to the lack of people working in nursing homes we're seeing a weird divide between employers desperate for employees and the wage growth you'd expect and what's actually happening. I'm not sure why, because it doesn't mirror past low unemployment years when wages and benefits rose to meet the demand for good employees. Are businesses (and we're talking corporate here, because smaller, privately owned businesses are trying even as they're failing) depending on the Trump Republicans to save them somehow? Tax relief only goes so far.

*Totally different conversation that needs to be had.

Say hello to the fully employed / marginally paid years. Somehow the class of new jobs in the 80's was much more inviting than tire shop and pizza joint. I guess I though all our automation and going digital would lead to higher evolved positions, rather than more bed-pan changers. Feeling grumpy, need more coffee...
