At issue, said the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers, was an announcement sent to booksellers based in Hungary, the Czech Republic, South Korea and Russia saying AbeBooks would close their accounts as of Nov. 30 and completely withdraw from those markets.

Within days, the “flash strike” was over. On Wednesday, ILAB said it reached an agreement with the Amazon subsidiary to reinstate the affected booksellers, letting them operate with AbeBooks as they do now until Dec. 31, after which AbeBooks would offer a solution to let them continue on the platform indefinitely.

[....]

The protest itself was unusual in that Amazon has incredible reach and power when it comes to book sales, and many third-party sellers rely on Amazon and AbeBooks for a worldwide customer base and revenue. Amazon purchased AbeBooks, which is based in Victoria, B.C., in 2008.

Mon, 19 Nov 2018 00:11:42 +0000 artappraiser comment 261529 at http://dagblog.com Alibaba eating Bezos' lunch? http://dagblog.com/comment/261478#comment-261478
In reply to Amazon Is Kicking All Unauthorized Apple Refurbishers Off Amazon Marketplace

Alibaba eating Bezos' lunch?

Alibaba smashed the Singles' Day sales record in just 16 hours, recording $30 billion+ in sales pic.twitter.com/3rajsQtMas
— TicToc by Bloomberg (@tictoc) November 12, 2018

I note that in the chyron to the vidoe that they agree on this: India is the prize.

Fri, 16 Nov 2018 03:27:50 +0000 artappraiser comment 261478 at http://dagblog.com Time for antitrust pressure, http://dagblog.com/comment/261376#comment-261376
In reply to Amazon Is Kicking All Unauthorized Apple Refurbishers Off Amazon Marketplace

Time for antitrust pressure, but w Beavis the Butthead in the White House, and his dumbfuck toady sidekick coming in to head the DoJ, won't happen.
