It's not so strange. News sites that engage in sensationalism typically get details wrong. They want to get the story out first to make money off the clicks and don't adequately vet their sources. All we really know is he's been arrested, charged with felony domestic violence, and released on 50k bail. That means there is a credible allegation. The woman, whose name has not yet been released, may be making a false accusation but I doubt this is some conspiracy by the cops and the court that set the bail.

Story continues to be strange (lots of caveats here, as police tried to set up Stormy Daniels in Cleveland, so that arrest blew up in their faces). Avanatti does seem to be under arrest & being booked, was not his wife who he's estranged from & hasn't seen in months, what the details are are foggy to say the least, Avenatti issues a complete denial. Revenge of TMZ?
