A little while later I had finished the story and had a cold cup of coffee sitting next to me. I really like my first cup. Not much gets in its way. I got caught up in your story enough to completely forget it. Nice work. </p> </div></div></div> Wed, 05 Dec 2018 16:40:49 +0000 A Guy Called LULU comment 262138 at http://dagblog.com Thanks, Michael. http://dagblog.com/comment/262137#comment-262137 <a id="comment-262137"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/comment/262125#comment-262125">Okay, I couldn&#039;t wait.  It&#039;s</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>Thanks, Michael.</p> </div></div></div> Wed, 05 Dec 2018 16:27:41 +0000 Doctor Cleveland comment 262137 at http://dagblog.com Okay, I couldn't wait.  It's http://dagblog.com/comment/262125#comment-262125 <a id="comment-262125"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/comment/262121#comment-262121">Congratulations!</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>Okay, I couldn't wait.  It's awesome.  Funny and poignant and what a secret power!</p> </div></div></div> Wed, 05 Dec 2018 14:47:45 +0000 Michael Maiello comment 262125 at http://dagblog.com Congratulations! http://dagblog.com/comment/262121#comment-262121 <a id="comment-262121"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/personal/writing-short-fiction-then-and-now-26903">Writing Short Fiction, Then and Now</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>Congratulations!</p> <blockquote> <p>The small cool science fiction magazines I used to love, with their tiny press runs, have largely been replaced by cool online science fiction magazines. That's a useful change, especially in terms of how many people potentially read a story. I didn't have many links to share in the old days. I'm back to being a fiction rookie again, trying to break in just as I did when I was younger, except that rookies today get to play for bigger crowds.</p> </blockquote> <p>This has also happened to a lot of the "big" magazines that I grew up wanting to write for. I've crossed most of my dream publications off my bucket list, but online rather than in print. As you say, you get a bigger audience that way and while in the 90s and early 2000s there was still a sense that the print magazine is "more prestigious," it'd be very hard to explain that feeling to most readers in their 20s and 30s in 2018.</p> <p>Your childhood dreams can come true, if you don't mind those dreams coming true online.</p> <p>Just bought the issue with your story, will read it before bed!</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> </div></div></div> Wed, 05 Dec 2018 13:37:37 +0000 Michael Maiello comment 262121 at http://dagblog.com
