Great movie on The Wrecking Crew that I caught on a plane once. Peter York/Monkees was horrified to find out they didn't want him to play bass on studio recordings. Nancy Sinatra's classic opening bass line for Boots was by a female bass player you never heard of (who played on a million other tracks). Glen Campbell was one of these session musicians but managed to sneak out into stardom. Hal was all over Pet Sounds, plus those Elvis Vegas gigs...

What an amazing set of tweeted condolence messages! Geez. We may have never heard of him but a hell of a lot of the biggest celebs of the 20th century did.
