First thing I thought: it's atypical for his generation. Then wondering how much it would matter to those of his generation that don't agree. Which then got me thinking how what may really be happening is that there are few voters around any more for whom stance on Israel/Palestine alone is a deal breaker. Could be wrong but I would think hawkishness or not is definitely still a deal breaker for many, but not stance on IP, that it's less and less a hot button.

Hadn't intended it, but the whole "learn another language" thing is very old school.
We have electronic Babble fish to carry with us, except the need to know English.
You can take a 4 week vacation through Europe and never crack a language sweat.
About the only actually useful one is Chinese, but there, forget it.

Even Pete to me seems to be fighting some last campaign's battle, wanting to be the "why can't we all get along" promise of Obama 2008 that's gone with the wind/2008 crash. Yes, I appreciate he seems to run a smaller city well. But there's a lot more to taming DC in 2020.
