In a way it relates to my thinking about the US attempts to institute democracy in middle east countries, and even some of the liberal activists in the country. There's significant cultural elements and institutions that are necessary for democracy to thrive that aren't present in ME countries. Just as the author contends there are cultural elements and institutions that make Sweden's "socialism" work that we don't have in the US. While I supportĀ  a greater safety net and more government services we'll have to come up with our own version of it.</p> </div></div></div> Sat, 17 Aug 2019 23:56:45 +0000 ocean-kat comment 270645 at http://dagblog.com
