Of course, and no worker should be required to pay social security, nor medicare, nor other retirement programs, nor healthcare, nor parking, nor costs for uniforms, nor anything else. Workers should be completely free, as found in nature.

It's fine to say no worker should be forced to join a union. What this article leaves out is that unions are required to advocate for all workers whether they pay union dues or not and employers have to treat all workers as outlined in the negotiated bargain. If there is a problem between a worker and their employer the worker can file a grievance with the union whether he is a member or not and the union is required by law to fight for the non-union members rights. There is no benefit to paying union dues for an individual over the short term as they get all the benefits of the union with none of the costs. Over the long term this could destroy the union if more and more employees opt out of paying union dues. This is the purpose of right to work laws.
