I hear a major resurgence since Trump's been in office, not seen since Herb Alpert - people come just to hear them ivories tickled down by the New Wall. Quite inspiring. There are little jazz bars every where. I've often go to listen to natives play. When ever one of the musicians was annoying me I'd request <a href="http://jazzstandards.com/compositions-2/invitation.htm">Invitation by Bronislau Kaper</a>. It's a jazz standard in all the jazz standard books that many jazz musicians carry so they always had a chart for it. And it's exceedingly difficult to play. Key changes every couple of measures, many of the chromatic, minor diminished to minor diminished. Very difficult harmony to improvise over. Here's Kaper playing his composition.</p> <p> </p> <div class="media_embed" height="301px" width="580px"><iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="301px" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/PydrsjLX2aM" width="580px"></iframe></div> <p> </p> <p> </p> </div></div></div> Wed, 25 Sep 2019 06:55:26 +0000 ocean-kat comment 271654 at http://dagblog.com Vox just won an Emmy: http://dagblog.com/comment/271651#comment-271651 <a id="comment-271651"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/link/vox-media-agrees-acquire-new-york-magazine-29141">Vox Media agrees to acquire New York Magazine</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>Vox just won an Emmy:</p> <p> </p><div class="media_embed"> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en" height="" width=""> <p dir="ltr" lang="en" xml:lang="en">What a night!<br /><br /> So proud of <a href="https://twitter.com/estellecaswell?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@estellecaswell</a> and the <a href="https://twitter.com/voxdotcom?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@voxdotcom</a> team for their <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/NewsEmmys?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#NewsEmmys</a> win.<br /><br /> If you haven't yet, check out the winning Earworm episode: "The Most Feared Song in Jazz, Explained." <a href="https://t.co/9Ppv37fjJc">https://t.co/9Ppv37fjJc</a> <a href="https://t.co/gfmFRTmDSo">https://t.co/gfmFRTmDSo</a></p> — Vox Media (@voxmediainc) <a href="https://twitter.com/voxmediainc/status/1176684860599152645?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">September 25, 2019</a></blockquote> <script async="" charset="utf-8" height="" src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" width=""></script></div> </div></div></div> Wed, 25 Sep 2019 05:58:01 +0000 artappraiser comment 271651 at http://dagblog.com Ezra Klein & Yglesias: http://dagblog.com/comment/271650#comment-271650 <a id="comment-271650"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/link/vox-media-agrees-acquire-new-york-magazine-29141">Vox Media agrees to acquire New York Magazine</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>Ezra Klein &amp; Yglesias:</p> <p> </p><div class="media_embed"> <blockquote height="" width=""> <p>Very, very excited about this. <a href="https://t.co/V0RwI8pQVu">https://t.co/V0RwI8pQVu</a></p> — Ezra Klein (@ezraklein) <a href="https://twitter.com/ezraklein/status/1176665263824965632?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">September 25, 2019</a></blockquote> </div> <p> </p><div class="media_embed"> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en" height="" width=""> <p dir="ltr" lang="en" xml:lang="en">One step closer to my dream of co-hosting a podcast with <a href="https://twitter.com/jonathanchait?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@jonathanchait</a> called “two bald guys with extremely similar views argue viciously about political correctness.”</p> — Matthew Yglesias (@mattyglesias) <a href="https://twitter.com/mattyglesias/status/1176673926992269312?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">September 25, 2019</a></blockquote> <script async="" charset="utf-8" height="" src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" width=""></script></div> <p> </p> </div></div></div> Wed, 25 Sep 2019 05:56:50 +0000 artappraiser comment 271650 at http://dagblog.com
