They’re moving that money, plus some additional funds, towards television ads in Nevada and Maine, plus some radio and print ads in S.C.

This article seems to be saying black voters are going to ask us to hold our nose and vote for Steyer. A while ago it seemed like black voters were going to shove Biden down our throat. Cry me a fucking river if black voters had to hold their noses and vote for a democrat they didn't like or want. At least you got one president you wanted, Obama. In my life time there has never been a democrat I wanted to vote for. It was always the least bad candidate

“Black voters see Democrats as that party that puts a candidate forth and says they should vote for them," said Michael Bailey, publisher of The Minority Eye, one of the largest black-owned publications in South Carolina and a paper in which Steyer bought $27,735 in print ads, according to his latest campaign finance report. "Steyer is having a different conversation with black and minority media. It's not that Joe Biden or any other candidate is bad, they just didn't think that way."

Jarrod Loadholt, an Atlanta-based Democratic political strategist, noted the success of Tom Steyer’s state operation, which is comprised almost entirely of native South Carolinians.

“That’s better than advertising,” he said.

Johnnie Cordero, chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party Black Caucus and a Steyer endorser, agreed.

“The days have gone where you can come into South Carolina and bring your crew from D.C. and ask black South Carolinians to be your volunteers,” Cordero said.

Steyer made it a point to stress Afro-Americans in the last debate, I specifically noticed him doing it in the parts I watched. To me it stood out as blatantly intentional--as if in debate prep, he was continually reminded to get the meme in there somehow. Not that it appeared insincere, I am not suggesting that, just that it seemed an intentional talking point.

And if all that cash had gone to down-ticket candidates, maybe we'd be carrying him to the White House. But while Republicans stack all the decks, we stay focused on 1 position only. If focus is a word we can rightfully use.
