Nice piece, timely reminder. Made me think of how freedom of speech is an important part of the mix, even freedom of hate speech. Hate speech because you don't want to drive it underground where no one knows the hate is happening. Small voices in the mix, protection of the unpopular. Especially if you're going to try big centralized governments. This is why the intensity of cancel culture warring, peer pressure, the Bernie Bros problem are all worrisome to many. Why whistleblowing protection is so important, the bigger the bureaucracy, the more important it is.
