I like this by Jilani on Warren as analysis:

I think situating Warren as a progressive movement person is a mistake, it's never something she was significantly part of. She sees herself more as a reformer or expert who saw specific problems and then set out to fix them. She doesn't think of herself as part of a cohort.

She would endorse either Biden or Sanders if she believes they would win and help achieve her policy goals. She is not thinking about well what empowers this faction of activists who I align myself with over the long term. This is a big difference in how she thinks from Sanders.

Sanders was part of the civil rights movement, women's movement, antiwar, labor, etc. throughout his life because he thinks in terms of ideology and factions, while Warren was mostly apolitical and then got involved due to a series of events in a particular area.

This is part of why her 2020 campaign came across as a bit jarring is it tried to place her personage in an activist context when really she doesn't have high regard or interest in social movements, she's a technical expert.

When I spoke with @ewarren earlier today, she was defiant at the idea that she is obligated to support either Sanders or Biden.

I still don't get Steyer's run - Yang is quirky with ideas, Bloomberg us a known behemoth, but Steyer just deflected what he does best, support. Anyway, I still think Warren did quite well to this point, with a fairly consistent cross-state %. Looking at the landscape last December, you'd think a goal of surviving til after Super Tuesday, this would have met the slightly disappointed but "I'm-still-here" requisites. Why exactly the hurry to get the early pack over and out completely? 5-6 months of "I'm better!" "No, you're not!"

So do you feel like you won Minnesota, in the end?

I think I was a big help, yes. Joe Biden won Minnesota. But one of the more interesting things is when you look at the counties on the edges that don’t always get TV from Minnesota. They get Canadian or North Dakota or South Dakota. Those were the ones that I still won. Maybe they went to vote in the morning without knowing [I had dropped out of the race]. [....]

Of course they're praising his personal qualities. They have no choice. He doesn't have any policy ideas and most of the policies he's supported over the years were bad.
