Hi Emma, long time no see, very much appreciate you braving offering input on this. From past discussion I have a lot of respect for your understanding of Georgia. Because at first glance he sure sounded nearly as awful as Trump on this.

I am really down on paying attention to the spin and the lies and the fantasy narratives, including Trump's, except for ridicule of it, of course. With this, we have to pay attention to what they actually do, good or bad, not what they are saying. Because in the end, this is not a political matter! It's about competence and incompetence in management. And when it's the case, making it hard for competent people to do their related jobs.

These people think we won WWII on prayers apparently,
and they think a virus is the same as a German soldier.
On Mar 7, Kemp sent his daughter off to Jamaica.
Wonder how those airports & beaches were.
Under normal conditions, Kemp would survive.
1 million+ infections now, US listed as 1/4.
(I don't believe China or Russia, & will be a lot of countries
understating infections.)
Georgia had 2 cases on Mar 3 ("Thanks to President Trump,
we are prepared and ready"), 66 cases on Mar 14, 5400 today.
Growing a bit faster than the UK, so should be at 30,000 cases
in 9 or 10 days. Note that UK is 8th in the world.

I guess Kemp is pretty mediocre but that's okay since he appears to have a competent machine backing him. Georgia is for all practical purposes a one-party state and has been for my entire life. That party just switched jerseys in the 90s but it's mostly the same people running things. Not ideal but at least sort of predictable unlike the rancorous divide between the national parties that led to Trump's victory.

I'm pretty sure (or at least I hope) what Gov. Kemp is doing tomorrow is to satisfy some legal requirement because he (or his staff) have been active on Facebook, keeping his followers up-to-date on his responses to the progression of the disease after the first cases appeared here at the end of February/beginning of March. Schools have been closed since mid-March. Bars/restaurants, etc. closed shortly after that. National Guard activated. Even funerals have been limited to groups of ten for a few weeks now. I think the Civil War angle's a distraction. Here's a jingoistic ditty being passed around - maybe it's Southern, may just MAGA, but there are so many holes in the whole thing. Woke a tiger? FFS, Georgia's still asleep at the wheel, and these people think it'll be over in 2 weeks? That's not how Pearl Harbor ended up from what I recall. If this is Greatest Generation talking, it's dementia overtime. If it's Boomer, they missed some detail in those Depression & wartime deprivation stories, and how we lost East Europe & SE Asia for a few generations. History as written by the Disney channel
