Biden's awfully goddamned quiet in an election/pandemic year. But I don't really wake up thinking I need another left-wing resistance chic hipster to follow on Instagram - I need a resistance leader that will crash the Republican Party and it's stranglehold. 2 years complaining about a state election? We've been complaining about Florida for 20 - buys you nothing, ask Al Gore, an actual VP. Ask that guy who shoulda been on the Supreme Court, for that matter, old whatshisname.</p> <p><img alt="" height="751" src="https://i.pinimg.com/originals/c8/15/34/c8153473e0a52984ceaa462136e5cd24.jpg" width="450" /></p> </div></div></div> Sun, 26 Apr 2020 05:46:00 +0000 PeraclesPlease comment 280630 at http://dagblog.com on Abrams: http://dagblog.com/comment/280620#comment-280620 <a id="comment-280620"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/comment/279917#comment-279917">oh my</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>on Abrams:</p> <p> </p><div class="media_embed"> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en" height="" width=""> <p dir="ltr" lang="en" xml:lang="en">Amen. <a href="https://t.co/OlV8gSV9pV">https://t.co/OlV8gSV9pV</a></p> — Andrew Sullivan (@sullydish) <a href="https://twitter.com/sullydish/status/1254071107273007104?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 25, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async="" charset="utf-8" height="" src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" width=""></script></div> </div></div></div> Sun, 26 Apr 2020 02:53:55 +0000 artappraiser comment 280620 at http://dagblog.com Nate Silver disses anti http://dagblog.com/comment/280207#comment-280207 <a id="comment-280207"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/link/elizabeth-warren-says-she-would-accept-being-joe-bidens-running-mate-30883">Elizabeth Warren says she would accept being Joe Biden&#039;s running mate</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>Nate Silver disses anti-Warren online Bernie bro as cluelessly in a bubble of his own making and "abnormal" to boot:</p> <p> </p><div class="media_embed"> <blockquote height="" width=""> <p>Warren being chosen as VP would be a good example of something that normal Sanders supporters would like, and the fact that a few Very Online ones might not like it is a sign that they aren't really speaking for the majority. <a href="https://t.co/RLxSJJDnlG">https://t.co/RLxSJJDnlG</a></p> — Nate Silver (@NateSilver538) <a href="https://twitter.com/NateSilver538/status/1250830956820410370?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 16, 2020</a></blockquote> </div> <p>edit to add: he had more on topic on how the media give the loud online Bernie bros too much weight:</p> <p> </p><div class="media_embed"> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en" height="" width=""> <p dir="ltr" lang="en" xml:lang="en">In this story, there's lots of reporting on Sanders-friendly groups and people who *do* want Warren to be chosen, but the story is framed the opposite way, perhaps because reporters overstate the influence of the Very Online crowd (+drama makes headlines). <a href="https://t.co/4SJ73zuJg1">https://t.co/4SJ73zuJg1</a></p> — Nate Silver (@NateSilver538) <a href="https://twitter.com/NateSilver538/status/1250840018228215809?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 16, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async="" charset="utf-8" height="" src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" width=""></script></div> </div></div></div> Sun, 19 Apr 2020 09:20:01 +0000 artappraiser comment 280207 at http://dagblog.com That's because it's absurdly http://dagblog.com/comment/280143#comment-280143 <a id="comment-280143"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/comment/280135#comment-280135">I also hate this quota thing.</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>That's because it's absurdly applied with "tokens". To play the game correctly--and it is a game about fooling people who vote with their tribal gut rather than their brain--you pick someone who can vouch for you with the tribe that doesn't exactly trust you. Like Obama picked him to get some Reagan Dem males. I.E., picking a woman isn't going to work if you're trying to get the feminist vote and the woman is Phyllis Schafly.</p> </div></div></div> Sat, 18 Apr 2020 18:21:56 +0000 artappraiser comment 280143 at http://dagblog.com Yeah, at the least it's http://dagblog.com/comment/280141#comment-280141 <a id="comment-280141"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/comment/280140#comment-280140">a point against her for many,</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>Yeah, at the least it's politically tone deaf to pick such a controversial book. It's one thing to say, "Women will be extremely well represented in my VP search", and another to say, "I will pick a woman". Will that be a black woman? A Buddhist? Lesbian or Trans? A non-lawyer? One with a disability or disadvantaged background? From a traditionally Republican state? Military experience? Between 47 and 59? Not stereotypical attractive body type? Insomniac with panic attacks? Recovered alcoholic? Chamber orchestra aficionado? Drives a domestic automobile, preferably EV? Background in eCommerce?
