You could argue that both peace and war require two partners ready to tango, but it's a specious argument to make when your opponent wants to war and has a nuclear option (or as in the case of Hitler, a metaphorically equivalent plan).</p> <p>what i will agree with without reservations is that we should be way more prudent in deciding to use the tremendous power we wield. Many times, the decision is gut-wrenching, complicated and morally ambiguous. And most of those times, we should err on the side of peace. That's why I feel the Second Iraq War will go down as one of the most shameful decisions in our nation's spotted history.</p></div></div></div> Tue, 16 Feb 2010 16:03:02 +0000 Deadman comment 10572 at http://dagblog.com Thank you, MJS. I watched Witness (with Harrison Ford) again, and it reminded me of the courage of the Anabaptists (the Amish are one branch) in refusing to fight. Although an atheist, I have complete respect for their principles in that regard.</p></div></div></div> Fri, 12 Feb 2010 15:56:04 +0000 Nebton comment 10522 at http://dagblog.com
