The question was not about approval for Trump but how they think this country is going. And I have heard enough times from friends and family in the last few weeks--since the Geo. Flyod protests started-- <em>that they don't like what's happening in this country, that it scares them.</em> I don't have specifics, but in general, I do get the sense that everyone is obediently suffering in lockdown and suffering a crashed world economy to defeat the coronavirus. And then all these right wing wackos start challenging shutdown and then within days the whole fucking millennial generation is out on the streets fighting racism with collateral looting and rioting and cononclasm and nobody seems to give a fig about coronavirus. So why did we wreck the economy and stay inside for two months if right and left are not going to go along? As what they don't like is the reaction to Trump, not necessarily Trump.</p> <p>No doubt it's not just about Trump. In this type of poll, the regularly nutso conservative 1/3 of the country is ususally in approval with Republican leaders and happy with what they are doing, as regular as rain.they get approval from at least 1/3. So a cavaet: many of the missing 14% who would have made up 33%  who answered that they did not like where this country is going might be more unhappy with the many protestors out on the streets than they are with anything Trump is doing.</p> <p>That said, the Russia/Afganistan thing is hitting him hard as far as traditional Republicans are concerned, is exactly the type of thing that makes John McCain roll over in his grave and the Never Trumpers know it as they are just pounding him with it in social media and advertising.</p> </div></div></div> Wed, 01 Jul 2020 23:21:11 +0000 artappraiser comment 284446 at http://dagblog.com Wile E Coyote, please http://dagblog.com/comment/284420#comment-284420 <a id="comment-284420"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/comment/284416#comment-284416">Donald Trump, meet Wylie</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>Wile E Coyote, please</p> <p><img alt="" height="375" src="https://media0.giphy.com/media/ORHf4lCKNv5ra/giphy.gif" width="500" /></p> </div></div></div> Wed, 01 Jul 2020 19:29:02 +0000 PeraclesPlease comment 284420 at http://dagblog.com Old folks, bad hearing - they http://dagblog.com/comment/284418#comment-284418 <a id="comment-284418"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/comment/284417#comment-284417"> 25% of voters say “even</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>Old folks, bad hearing - they thought the pollster said "even impaired"</p> </div></div></div> Wed, 01 Jul 2020 19:25:02 +0000 PeraclesPlease comment 284418 at http://dagblog.com  25% of voters say “even http://dagblog.com/comment/284417#comment-284417 <a id="comment-284417"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/comment/284401#comment-284401">Until today, GOP satisfaction</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p> 25% of voters say “even-tempered” describes Trump very or fairly well</p> <p> </p> <p>What the bleeding fuck?</p> </div></div></div> Wed, 01 Jul 2020 18:35:11 +0000 jollyroger comment 284417 at http://dagblog.com Donald Trump, meet Wylie http://dagblog.com/comment/284416#comment-284416 <a id="comment-284416"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/comment/284401#comment-284401">Until today, GOP satisfaction</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>Donald Trump, meet Wylie Coyote....,</p> </div></div></div> Wed, 01 Jul 2020 18:30:58 +0000 jollyroger comment 284416 at http://dagblog.com I knew the pandemic had a http://dagblog.com/comment/284405#comment-284405 <a id="comment-284405"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/link/pew-current-potential-swing-voters-presidential-race-31727">Pew on current potential swing voters in presidential race</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>I knew the pandemic had a leftwing tilt.</p> </div></div></div> Wed, 01 Jul 2020 05:09:43 +0000 PeraclesPlease comment 284405 at http://dagblog.com Until today, GOP satisfaction http://dagblog.com/comment/284401#comment-284401 <a id="comment-284401"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/link/pew-current-potential-swing-voters-presidential-race-31727">Pew on current potential swing voters in presidential race</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p> </p><div class="media_embed"> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" height="" width=""> <p dir="ltr" lang="en" xml:lang="en">Until today, GOP satisfaction with how things are going in the US had been above 50% for nearly all of Trump’s presidency.<br /><br /> It is now 19%. <a href="https://t.co/S5NKy7iUv2">https://t.co/S5NKy7iUv2</a> <a href="https://t.co/iqQjHFRaa2">pic.twitter.com/iqQjHFRaa2</a></p> — Michael Del Moro (@MikeDelMoro) <a href="https://twitter.com/MikeDelMoro/status/1278031750996918276?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">June 30, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async="" charset="utf-8" height="" src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" width=""></script></div> </div></div></div> Wed, 01 Jul 2020 04:32:05 +0000 artappraiser comment 284401 at http://dagblog.com
