I remain surprised at sense of disorganization w/ CPD response to protests. A group on the move now, supervisor asks for the north side tac teams (019, 020, 024, 025) to move with the group and nobody told OEMC that there were outside units working in the district of protest.

They asked for salt trucks to move up near the 011th district station, but the protest didn't make it that far north - changed course from what on scene supervisor anticipated - so now Homan Square is without the trucks they had been using to block traffic.

I will repeat my callout of Malcolm Gladwell - we learned how to police hard in the very few places that need it, and police compassionately, community-aware, in the vast majority of our country. Not pollyannaish, but compassionate, reasonably efficient And well-behaved.

Most of the police have not been instructed in this. Most are focused on one famous incident where a cop lost his weapon and the perp killed him with his own gun in cold blood. But that's letting an Outlier rule the nest - it makes no sense.
