6) ...which makes future vaccines much harder. Let’s say first generation vaccine maybe only 40% effective. But next generation vaccine maybe 80% effective. Instead of just proving 80% vs placebo, they also have to prove 80% is better than the 1st gen 40% vaccine. MUCH HARDER!!!

You can understand the optimism of @ScottGottliebMD & Mark McClellan, who were 2 of our best FDA Commissioners. But they led in a different era when science led. There wasn't a pandemic w/ 2 very high stakes contests: companies w/ vaccines and intense politicization before Nov 3.
